Membership category, eligibility, application and admission
APFNet membership is open to Asia-Pacific entities. Aligned with the APFNet Operational Framework, all the economies, civil society organizations, the private sector, academic forestry institutions, and organizations active in the Asia-Pacific region are welcome to join.
APFNet members are grouped into the following five categories:

A. APEC economies (represented by government agencies)

B. Non-APEC economies in the Asia-Pacific region (represented by government agencies)

C. International/regional intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations operating in the Asia-Pacific region

D. Domestic forestry-related academic institutions and non-governmental organizations in the Asia-Pacific region

E. Forests and forestry-related enterprises operating in the Asia-Pacific region

An entity wishing to become an APFNet member shall:

accept and support the mission and objectives of APFNet;

acknowledge the principles of openness, consensus-based decision-making, and mutual respect among members;

undertake activities that further sustainable forest management and rehabilitation in Asia and the Pacific. 

All entities applying for APFNet membership shall submit :

a Confirmation of Accepting the APFNet Operational Framework signed by the appropriate head of the applicant entity;

a letter of intent that outlines how the eligibility requirements have been met and provisionally designates a Council representative and contact person(s).and

a proof that the economy where the applicant entity is headquartered/operating has endorsed this application (This is additionally requested for an application that falls in the membership types D and E). 

A membership application should be addressed to the Executive Director of APFNet and considered by the APFNet Council at its next meeting.  


APFNet members and observers
APFNet has 32 members, including 27 economies and five international organizations. APFNet members can be reached through their Representatives and contact person(s), who comprise the APFNet Council.
The Council approved five economies from the Greater Central Asia subregion,namely Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, in 2015 with observer status.
