Announcement for the International Training Course on Forest Resource Remote Sensing Monitoring for Economies along the ‘Marine Silk Road’
The International Training Course on Forest Resource Remote Sensing Monitoring for Economies along the ‘Marine Silk Road’ will be held from 7 to 21 July 2019 in Nanning, Guangxi, People’s Republic of China. This course is hosted by the Institute of Forest Resource Information Techniques, Chinese Academy of Forestry and funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China and APFNet (through the Regional Forest Observations for Sustainable Forest Management Project). Enrolment：20 trainees
Trainees：Researchers engaged in forestry and ecological environmental monitoring in research institutes, universities and enterprises; researchers working on resource and environmental remote sensing, remote sensing technology applications, quantitative remote sensing and other related fields, etc.
Language：English
2. They should be familiar with the current conditions and technical requirements of forest resource remote sensing monitoring in their economies and provide PowerPoint and Word files for information sharing.
3. Applicants with over three years of work experience will be prioritized.
4. English language skills for communication and study.
5. In good health, with no infectious diseases.

Objectives
This training course aims to improve trainees’ ability to collect and process remote sensing data in economies along the Maritime Silk Road. The course will enable trainees to map with medium-resolution data and use high-resolution data in forest stand surveys. Through the course, the level of forest resources monitoring, and management can be improved in participating economies.Training workshop contents
Training contents comprise remote sensing data collection, processing, classification and evaluation; forest resource change detection based on remote sensing technology; forest resource inventory using Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) and high-resolution remote sensing data; annual forest change detection methods based on time series data, etc.Requirements for trainees
1. Trainees should come from developing economies along the ‘Maritime Silk Road’ such as Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Viet Nam (refer to developing economies mentioned in this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/21st_Century_Maritime_Silk_Road).2.
