Consumers want products with forest certification labels, PEFC survey reveals

19 December 2014, Foresteurope news- Results of the first PEFC Global Consumer Survey were recently released.  According to the main findings of the study, most consumers (60% of those surveyed) agree that their shopping choice for a labelled product can make a positive difference to the world's forests.

Almost one third of the consumers indicated in the survey that they actively look for certification labels, and more than 80% of the surveyed consumers stated that they would prefer companies to label products coming from sustainably managed forests.

In general, the results of the survey show that consumers trust certification labels as a way to ascertain if wood-based products are sustainably sourced.

The sample for the survey was composed by 1,000 men and women aged 16 years old or more, in each of the following countries: Australia, Austria, Brazil, China, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Sweden, UK and USA.
