Belize Forest Department develops standards for community forest management plans

6 March 2014, EU FLEGT Facility news - The Belize Forest Department has proposed a project to develop a template for community forest management plans with the aim of improving communities' access to forest resources over the long term.

The department plans to develop the template with the assistance of a silvicultural specialist who will consult with the forest user groups concerned. As part of the project, forestry consultants and foresters will receive training in using the template and conducting field tests in selected communities. The project is funded through the EU FAO FLEGT Programme.
