Thailand increases efforts to inform stakeholders and public on VPA negotiations

6 March 2014, EU FLEGT Facility news - Thailand's Royal Forest Department is working to improve public access to information on FLEGT and VPAs to support VPA negotiations.

The Thai–EU VPA Secretariat is organising a series of coordination meetings and consultations with VPA stakeholders and parties to the negotiations, as a means of disseminating information on FLEGT and VPAs. The Secretariat also plans to make information and materials on FLEGT available to the general public and local interest groups through several channels, including a new website.

The Royal Forest Department hopes that increasing access to information on FLEGT will lead to broad multistakeholder participation in Thailand's VPA negotiations, which got underway in late 2013. These efforts are funded through the EU FAO FLEGT Programme.
