10 November 2013, Agence Tunis Afrique Presse News - SOUSSE (TAP) - Caretaker President Moncef Marzouki condemned, on Sunday in Sousse, the "arson of forests" as Arbor Day was celebrated nationwide. 

Mr. Marzouki called for increasing tree planting before kick-starting, at Erriadh V neighbourhood in Sousse, the launch of sites for planting 600 thousand forest and ornamental trees in regions.

He was also briefed on the results of the campaign conducted last year and whose goals have been achieved at 54% with the planting of 6,671 hectares of forest and ornamental trees.

He also learnt about projects implemented by the general management of forests for the economic and social development of population of forest areas, as well as the national project to protect forests against fires during the period 2012-2015 which aims to provide fire prevention equipment to forest protection centres.
