07 Jun 2013 Partnership

Mr. Qu Guilin, APFNet Executive Director, met with Mr. Milton Von Hesse, Minister of Agriculture of Peru (MoA) in Peru Embassy to China on June 7, 2013, to discuss the preparation of and APFNet financial contribution to the Second APEC Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Forestry (hereafter referred to “the Meeting”), and explore wide-range of forestry cooperation on ground.

Mr. Qu highly praised and appreciated the efforts made by MOA in preparing for the Meeting, and reiterated the significance of high level talk like this to promoting forestry cooperation and development in Asia and the Pacific. APFNet, as the co-sponsor of the Meeting, would actively take part in agenda and outcome development, possible meeting session chairing and speaker nomination, and facilitate funding in a timely manner for the meeting success. He also invited Mr. Milton to present and speak at APFNet 5th anniversary cocktail reception during the Meeting, which Mr. Minister appreciated and confirmed attendance to.

Discussion also covered deepening APFNet-Peru forestry cooperation. Since APFNet establishment in 2008, Peru has been in support by active participation in various activities and events. Consensus was reached to formally launch collaboration through MOU during the Meeting, to enhance linkage between APFNet and Peru.
