On 24 April 2013, a delegation headed by Mr. Bishwa Nath Oli, joint secretary of Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation of Nepal (MFSC), visited the APFNet secretariat and met with Mr. Qu Guilin, Executive Director of APFNet to review the existing cooperation between the two sides and exchange thoughts on continued cooperation.
Mr. Qu Guilin reviewed Nepal’s involvement in APFNet’s activities since 2010. Nepal has actively participated in the capacity building program by sending two forestry officers for APFNet scholarship program and five officials to attend thematic training workshops; and there are already two ongoing demonstration projects implemented by Nepal counterparts, and one project to be launched this year. The two sides agreed that cooperation between APFNet and Nepal has been going well and the momentum should be kept for future cooperation. Meanwhile, it was also brought up that APFNet should increase its publicity and extension of the activities conducted in Nepal to let outputs visible.
The Nepal delegation visited China during 22-25 April and had working group meeting with the State Forestry Administration of China (SFA). The delegation consisted of five members, Mr. Bishwa Nath Oli, Joint Secretary (environtment), Mr. Braj Kishor Yadav, Director General, Department of Forestry, Mr. Maheshwar Dhakal, ecologist, Department of National Parks and Wildlife Protection, Mr. Anil Manandhar, country representative of WWF Nepal, and Mr. Diwakar Chapagain, project coordinator of WWF Nepal.
