A workshop on Forest Resources Management was launched on 8 November 2010, in Kunming, China. Sponsored and organized by APFNet in collaboration with National Plateau Wetlands Research Center and Southwest Forestry University, It is the 4th training under “Forest Resources Management” series of APFNet capacity building program.

The workshop brought together 15 senior forestry officials from 13 countries in the region, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Peru, Philippines, Thailand, and so forth, to identify the key challenges faced by Asia Pacific countries in forest resources management and to discuss possible solutions in addressing these challenges. 
The workshop has drawn dozens of professional expertise from government agencies, regional organizations and universities, and used a mix of methods including thematic reports, case studies, in-class discussions and field trips to cover topic issues regarding forest policies, legislations and institutions in the Asia-Pacific region, SFM in Australia and China, bamboo forestry utilization and management and so forth. County reports by participants will also provide a basis for in-depth exchange on good management of forest resources through policy and relevant measures.

A field trip to Tengchong and Baoshan Prefecture in Yunnan Province will be organized in the latter part of the workshop to showcase the performance and experience of forest resources management at local level.
