APFNet Council and Board of Directors met on 23 and 26 March 2017, in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Serving as the advisory body of APFNet and a platform of information exchange, the Council reviewed APFNet progress last year and proposed work 2017, stressing the importance of strengthening linkages among APFNet’s 4 pillars and encouraging further efforts to reach out partners. Consultation was held to seek ways to enhance communication and Council engagement. Outcomes of 2 completed projects with APFNet funding were shared and one new project was introduced in the project sharing session. 5 Great Central Asian economies, i.e. Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, were approved to attend future Council meetings as observers.
The Board approved the proposed APFNet annual work plan 2017 based on Council recommendation and suggestions. Board membership of Mr. Grahame Applegate, Prof. Rex Victor Cruz, Dr. Ganesh Raj Joshi and Dr. Sadanandan Nambiar was extended for a second term through 7 April 2020. A number of Board members were identified to comprise a panel to conduct final interviews of the short-listed candidates for the selection of the new Executive Director. It was also decided that APFNet regional presense would be enhanced through partnership collabration to raise activity quality.
With Council and Board’s concurrence, the fourth meetings of the Council and Board of Directors will be convened in early 2018, China.
