Boost for Lithuanian industrial production

23 April 2015, HD FestForest news - Industrial production in Lithuania grew in March, new figures have revealed. According to Statistics Lithuania, an increase of 4.3 per cent was recorded in the month compared to February, taking total industrial production to €1.59 billion.

When compared to March 2014, the growth was 10.5 per cent, Baltic Course reports.

The production of paper and paper products was boosted by 26.9 per cent on a yearly basis.

Manufacture of non-metallic mineral products saw the greatest increase (63.2 per cent), followed by the repair and installation of machinery and equipment (53.4 per cent) and manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (30.5 per cent).

Lithuania's economy grew by three per cent last year and Ernst & Young has forecast the Baltic nation to be the fastest-growing in the eurozone in 2015.

The country's agriculture, forestry and fishing sector grew by 3.5 per cent in 2014.
