2020 APFNet Master’s Degree Scholarship Programme: Call for applications
 
Launched in 2010 under APFNet’s Capacity Building Framework, the APFNet Scholarship Program (ASP) supports qualified students in completing a Master’s degree related to sustainable forest management and rehabilitation. To date, APFNet has cooperated with Beijing Forestry University (BJFU) and Nanjing Forestry University (NJFU) as the two host universities that target APFNet developing member economies as well as Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU) that targets both APFNet developing member economies and the Greater Central Asia (GCA) region.

Why apply for the programme?
    · Well-known and highly experienced professional forestry faculties
    · Sponsorship of tuition fees and expenses, which includes registration and tuition fees, one round-trip economy class flight ticket from the home economy of the awarded student to and from the city of the admitted university, accommodation on campus or alternative monthly allowance, monthly stipends to cover miscellaneous expenses and medical insurance during the enrolment period
    · Small class sizes, which provide high levels of student and teacher interaction
    · Motivated and multi-national student cohort, which offers a diverse and stimulating learning environment
    · Field trips in China for students during the two-year study duration to give students practical experience of knowledge on forestry resources status and management in China. Extra field practices will be provided by the host universities according to their resources and academic schedule
    · Opportunities to attend workshops, training and other activities on capacity development, forestry education and research, and policy dialogue organized by APFNet. Also to connect with policy-makers, academics, practitioners and international organizations, etc. in the Asia-Pacific region
    · Ample exposure for non-native students to the Chinese language and culture of China


Who can apply?
    · For BJFU and NJFU, applicants must be citizens from developing APFNet member economies, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, India, Lao PDR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Viet Nam
    · For NWAFU, applicants must be citizens from the developing APFNet member economies mentioned above or from the Greater Central Asia (GCA) region, specifically Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan
    · Age:18–40 and in good health
    · Having a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree from an accredited higher education institute in forestry or related fields
    · Work experience (at least two years) is prioritized
    · Proficiency in English (all the courses of this programme will be taught in English)
    · Female applicants are encouraged
    · Applicants should be recommended by an APFNet Council representative or contact person from their economy* of citizenship (please see the Council list for contact information)

Doctoral Programme

2020 APFNet Ph.D. Scholarship Programme: Call for applications
 
Launched in 2010, the APFNet Scholarship Program (ASP) aims to support capable forestry officials and researchers in the Asia-Pacific region to pursue higher academic degrees in the field of sustainable forest management and rehabilitation.
 
To better satisfy the demands of APFNet member economies in higher level forestry education, the ASP will also provide opportunities for students from developing APFNet member economies to undertake Ph.D. study at three host universities in China. The study and research opportunities provided by APFNet Ph.D. scholarships will help to develop the skills and knowledge of individuals to drive change and contribute to development in their own economies.

Who can apply
    · Applicants must be citizens from developing APFNet member economies, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, India, Lao PDR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Viet Nam, or from Greater Central Asia (GCA), specifically Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan
    · Applicants are expected to pass the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) Level Ⅲ before graduating
    · Age:18–45 and in good health
    · Have obtained a Master’s degree or an equivalent degree from an accredited higher education institute in forestry or a related field
    · Work experience (at least two years) is prioritized
    · Results of an English language proficiency examination should be included in the application (e.g. an overall IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL score of 80. All other evidence is considered on a case-by-case basis)
    · Applicants should be recommended by an APFNet Council representative or contact person from their economy* of citizenship (please see the Council list for contact information)
    · Applicants should fulfil the application requirements of the host universities
    · Female applicants are encouraged
