A sad loss for forest restoration in the Asia-Pacific region
On Wednesday, 13 March 2019, Professor David Lamb – our dear friend and a thought leader – passed away.

David taught forest ecology at the University of Queensland, Australia for more than 30 years and worked on forest restoration for a range of international organizations.

He worked closely with APFNet supporting our capacity building programmes from 2014 to 2017. He was one the key resource persons of the training series on forest rehabilitation and management. His passion and expertise in forest restoration and rehabilitation that balanced the needs of improving livelihoods with generating ecological benefits have influenced many foresters in the Asia-Pacific region, in particular in the tropical and subtropical regions.

His death is a sad loss for the Asia-Pacific forest sector community. He will long be remembered for his immense contribution to forest restoration in the region. Our thoughts and condolences go to his family and friends.

Sincerely,
APFNet Secretariat
