Mr. Zhu Lieke, Vice Minister of State Forestry Administration met with Mr. Mohammed Noor Yacob, the first fixed-term APEC Executive Director in Beijing.

Mr. Zhu briefly reviewed the main activities undertaken by APFNet since its launch and introduced the APFNet work plan for 2010, including institutional development of APFNet, its regional capacity-building programs and pilot projects. He expressed the wish to strengthen the cooperation between the APFNet and the APEC Secretariat so that the development of APFNet can be further promoted through the APEC to contribute to Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) and improvement of livelihood of local communities in the Asia-Pacific region.

Mr. Noor noted that the APEC Secretariat will actively participate in the APFNet activities and help APFNet to carry out its programs in the region. He welcomed the opportunity for the two sides to enhance information sharing to promote SFM in the region and contribute to the fulfillment of APEC’s goal of sustainable growth.
