The inception meeting of the project Demonstration on Integrated Planning and Management of Forest Ecosystem in Greater Mekong Sub-region (Pu'er Project Site, P.R.China)was held in Puer Prefecture, southwest Chinas Yunnan Province on 7th April 2017.

Being aware of the importance of forest ecosystem on protecting environment and biodiversity, benefiting agricultural production and supporting social development in Lancang-Mekong Watershed, in 2015, APFNet proposed the regional project “Demonstration on Integrated Planning and Management of Forest Ecosystem in Greater Mekong Sub-region” to build a platform for economies in GMS region to collaboratively promote integrated forest ecosystem management and enhance the ecological, economic, social and cultural functions of the forest ecosystem in Lancang-Mekong Watershed. As the first launched sub-project, the initiation of Pu’er sub-project indicated the regional project is finally transferred from paper to tangible actions.

During the next five years, Wanzhangshan Forest Farm, as the executing agency of Puer sub-project, will develop its Master Plan and Action Plan of Integrated Forest Ecosystem Management Plan, establish forest tending demonstration sites for Pinus kesiya and Betula alnoides as well as construct demonstration plot for resin production and precious plant collection garden of south-subtropical region.
