Project Agreement signed between APFNet and FAO

The Agreement of project “Making forestry work for the poor: Adapting forest policies to poverty alleviation strategies in Asia and the Pacific” has been signed between Asia-Pacific Network for Sustainable Forest Management and Rehabilitation (APFNet) and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in March, 2010. The project aims to assist forestry agencies in developing sector strategic plan and means to reduce poverty through sustainable forest management and forest rehabilitation in Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The executing agency of the project is FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific and the duration of the project is 1 year. The findings from this project, combined with information from the recent FAO regional forestry outlook, will support development of poverty reduction plans in those countries.
