The Workshop on Multi-functionality of Community Forestry Development in the Asia-Pacific region is held in Kunming city from 26th November to 7th December. The workshop brings 14 officials from 12 economies including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippine, Thailand, Viet Nam and China. The main objectives of this workshop are to enhance participants’ knowledge both on theory and practices of multi-functionality of community forestry development for poverty alleviation and biodiversity utilization, and identify the approaches and management skills to implement community forest programs with multi-functions in an effective way.
During the ten days training, experts are invited from the Netherlands, Indonesia，China and World Agroforestry Center (ICRAF) to share their knowledge and diverse experience regarding: 1) Policies and strategies on multi-functionality of community forestry development; 2)Effective implementation approaches of community forestry programs with multi-functions; 3)Community forestry development for livelihood improvement and poverty alleviation; and 4) Integration of multi-function approaches into policy making process on community forestry development. Participants will also share their unique viewpoints and challenges in multi-functionality of community forestry in their economies.
This workshop is the 10th thematic training sponsored by Asia-Pacific Network for Sustainable Forest Management and Rehabilitation (APFNet ), and organized by APFNet-Kunming Training Center.
