APFNet competed the terminal evaluation of project Supporting Community Based Sustainable Forest Management and Economic Empowerment of Women in Central Region of Nepal [2013P4-NPL] in Sept 2018.
Since late July 2018, within support and coordination from the Secretariat, the evaluation team has been working with HIMAWANTI Nepal, Ashmita Nepal and Community Resource Management Center of Nepal, as an Executing Agencies consortium, on the project evaluation for desk review and consultation. A visit to Nepal for data collection and stakeholder’s interview were carried out recently during Sept 2-7, 2018.

Following the evaluation process against the project design matrix including the objectives, outputs and evaluation criteria, the evaluation team acknowledged the efforts from the executing agencies, appreciated the results achieved by the project team, especially the improvement of local people’s income through development of community forest based mini-enterprises. Good collaboration at different levels, including the forestry authority, I/NGOs and local communities, on working together and advancing the development of community forestry in Nepal was highlighted by the evaluation team as a huge advantage of the project success. A terminal evaluation report will be sent to the Executing Agency soon.

To review APFNet interventions on contributing the development of community forestry in Nepal, the evaluation team also visited FECOFUN and met with related officers to assess the sustainability and impacts of the previously concluded APFNet projects in Nepal. Observations of the review will serve as an important reference for summarizing the impacts of APFNet activities in Nepal.
