Partnerships with regional forest initiatives and processes as well as academic institutions are an important channel for APFNet to better leverage the existing effort in the region to pool resources, identify synergies, avoid duplications and facilitate cooperation.
APFNet has entered into partnerships with the following entities through Memorandum of Understanding (MoU):
FAO is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Its goal is to achieve food security for all and make sure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives.
CIFOR is a non-profit, scientific institution that conducts research on the most pressing challenges of forest and landscape management around the world. Using a global, multidisciplinary approach, it aims to improve human well-being, protect the environment, and increase equity.
FFF provides support to forest and farm producer organizations (smallholders, rural women’s groups, local communities and indigenous peoples’ institutions) to increase their technical and business capacities to play their precious role for fighting against climate change and improving food security. FFF also engages with government to develop cross-sectoral mechanisms and policy processes which make use of rural people’s input.
ITTO develops internationally agreed policy documents to promote sustainable forest management and forest conservation and assists tropical member countries to adapt such policies to local circumstances and to implement them in the field through projects. In addition, ITTO collects, analyses and disseminates data on the production and trade of tropical timber and funds a range of projects and other action aimed at developing industries at both community and industrial scales
IUFRO is "the" global network for forest science cooperation. It aims to advance research excellence and knowledge sharing, and to foster the development of science-based solutions to forest-related challenges for the benefit of forests and people worldwide.
RECOFTC is an international not-for-profit organization with a vision of local communities actively managing forests in Asia and the Pacific to ensure optimal social, economic, and environmental benefits. It advocates for the increased involvement of local communities living in and around forests.
APAFRI is an independent non-profit body, which aims to enhance research and technology development capabilities in support of conservation and management of forest resources in the Asia-Pacific region.
